THE BIG QUESTION Almost daily, Orchard Mills receives calls and letters asking why we include Bible scripture references on each of our food products, so we felt it would be appropriate to call this section, "THE BIG QUESTION." I respond to those questions by saying that, just as God holds the place of prominence in my life, so too does He hold the place of prominence in my business. I not only give God "lip service" with these scriptures, I also hold to biblical principles in the rest of my life. I started this company as a hobby while I was in college. It has grown beyond my greatest expectations with distribution covering all 50 states. The reason I feel this has happened is that I allow God to be the President and I only work for Him. I also feel that it's most important to ask God for the wisdom and ability to make the right and proper decisions on how to run this business for Him. God says in Psalms 32:8, "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye." Also, God tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." These scriptures along with others in the Bible, are God's promise to us that He will help provide us with the guidance needed to make right and proper decisions. I know then that I must have faith in Him that He will provide for me what He knows is best and will bring glory to His name. What we can do is yield our mind, our body, our strength to Him and allow Him to guide our thoughts and our actions. All God asks is for our minds and our motives to be in accordance with His will, and to acknowledge His power and this can be a moment's thought, even an attitude of the heart. Always remember that whereas God often offers to work with us, His usual pattern is to work through us. He instructs us and guides us, but the doing and the going is left up to us. It is my prayer and aim that these scriptures will not only encourage you but also invoke interest in the Bible, even if it's just to see what they say or simply to encourage you in some way. The promises contained in the Bible have become a part of my frame of reference. I cling to them throughout my day and it is my prayer that anyone who reads these scriptures might also be encouraged by them as well. I carefully choose uplifting scriptures, not condemning ones, that will hopefully lead to more Bible reading by whomever purchases or even looks at my packages. God promises in Isaiah 55: 11 that His word shall not return unto Him void. With my life and my business, I endeavor to lead others to the saving
knowledge of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
